Healthcare Divest from Fossil Fuels

Private healthcare organizations and hospital systems across the U.S. health sector invest $billions of dollars directly in fossil fuels through staff pensions, retirement funds and other financial holdings including, in at lease one documented case, direct ownership of actively producing oil wells. Financing fossil fuels is a violation of the fundamental ethos of healthcare, enabling the expansion of fossil fuels - locking in increased health harms for millions of people, and adding tremendous economic burden to healthcare delivery, around the world. The impacts are felt everywhere but suffered disproportionately across the Global South by frontline impacted and indigenous communities - rarely reported in the west - and by communities of color, children, and health-compromised populations everywhere. We call upon our healthcare executives to end their institutional investments in fossil fuels. Please add your voice. Browse this website to learn more.
