Doctors and medical practitioners representing some of the largest associations and networks of public health professionals are calling upon South Asian Governments to phase out fossil fuels – oil, gas and coal – to avert the twin crises of air pollution and climate change. South Asia experiences some of the highest global health complications – asthma and other respiratory diseases, largely connected to fossil fuel PM2 and other fossil fuel toxic exposures – in the world. AQLI also endorsed the Fossil Fuel Treaty and called for a just and fair transition that puts people’s health first.
