Recent years have seen explosive growth in the acquisition of private healthcare systems by private-equity firms.

New research by the Private Equity Stakeholder Project reveals 460 US hospitals  – some 20% of all for-profit hospital systems in the US – are now owned by private equity firms.   See which hospitals – and the private equity firms which owns them – in the permalink above.

This is a major obstacle for the US health sector’s response to climate change; private equity firms have over a trillion dollars in energy investments that generate high greenhouse gas emissions; these investments play a huge role in accelerating the climate crisis.
